Artist's Home.

This is where you can find information on my Art House project, including inspirations, photos, articles, links and aspirations. You can find the more of the wiggly wobbly thought process over on my blog.

    The Project

In December 2022 I bought a commercial premises as a safe, bricks and mortar, place to put the money from the sale of my flat after a house purchase fell through. I had sold my flat and it was too late to back out. I knew the property as a jeweller and textile studio and was very happy to continue the studio legacy, to have a home for making and my brand new kiln.

Now I have the studio, my intention is to create something that pushes my art practice forward. In time I plan to transform the studio into a liveable work of art and for this to become a space where artists can come, live, and create in a fully immersive, inspiring environment through an artist residency program. Beyond the residency, it will be a place where people can gather, collaborate, exchange ideas and find a supportive space for creative thinking.

This idea has been brewing for about four years. What started as a dream for a large sculpture workshop has since morphed into something more intimate and manageable. I’ve already achieved significant milestones, such as buying the studio and building a reputation for supporting other artists.

In practical terms to move the dream forward I need to secure a change of use to begin to make it a liveable space. Working with my youngest brother, who is an architect, we will come up with a design to fully utilise the space that encompasses the practicalities needed to live there along with my artistic vision. Even if this planning is rejected I’m still dedicated to creating a space for events, workshops and generally a place for creativity to thrive.
