Service Description
Starts 3rd June 2023 through to 1st July 2023. Slow hand building clay playing, creating figures, dolls, deities and goddesses as alters to our favourite selves. Releasing our personal fears, repressions and reservations. The key to hand building with clay is patience and with that in mind this workshop has been designed to be playful, slow and joyful. I have allowed time for cups of tea and chatting along with a feeling of no rush making. We will be making dolls/figures/totems to help us express feelings we have been hiding, particularly focusing on the favourite parts of ourselves. Preparation and some things to bring with you- - Please listening to this Inner Mentor visualisation. https://insig.ht/jPh5tCUpVzb This will help with visualising the form you want to make. Don't worry if visualisation is not your bag, I can help if you discover the form you want to create. - Come with ideas. - Bring any inspiration you might need e.g. images, favourite object/stone/leaf/fabric/bead/button - Small items to make stamps and small moulds e.g. buttons. I'll explain this more on the day. - Be playful A couple of quotes from Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Women Who Run With The Wolves, to get you in the mood. “Women who try to make their deeper feelings invisible are deadening themselves. The fire goes out. It is a painful form of suspension.” “Dolls are believed to be infused with life by their makers. Some are used as rites, ritual, hoodoo, love spells and general mischief. … small wooden figures were used as markers of authority to remind one of one’s own power.” Examples of how we will spend our time each week. Week 1 - 3rd June Get the feel for the clay - quick and dirty to free up the finger. Make stamps Option to take time to walk outside, collect leaves or textures to press into the clay.
